Turner was found with overgrown hooves as a result of being neglected for years. He was about to be put down when the Heart of Phoenix Equine Rescue stepped in. They felt the condition was 100% correctable and sent the x-rays to The Ohio State University where surgery would take place. Afterward, Turner was fitted with a corrective shoe and was on the road to recovery.
