This Horse Isn’t Actually What He Appears To Be… He Is An Awesome Sculpture.

South Dakota artist John Lopez has an incredible talent. Using only old farm machinery and junk yard scrap metal, he creates life sized works of animal art that must be seen to be believed. To a passer by, they may seem like just normal animals.

He is able to re-use scrap metal and turn it into some amazing sculptures. Other people might have seen just a pile of junk, but he saw opportunity.

Working from his home, he first started after making a head stone for his aunt purely from scarp metal. "My favorite part about these pieces is the texture," explains Lopez. "I just start grabbin’ stuff from the pile and welding it, in and if you weld enough of the same thing on over and over it creates this really cool texture that I’ve never seen in these kinds of pieces before. And I think that’s what draws people in." Since starting, the results have truly been amazing. And have been growing in number! welded-scrap-metal-sculptures-john-lopez-22 welded-scrap-metal-sculptures-john-lopez-21 welded-scrap-metal-sculptures-john-lopez-20 welded-scrap-metal-sculptures-john-lopez-19 welded-scrap-metal-sculptures-john-lopez-17 welded-scrap-metal-sculptures-john-lopez-16 welded-scrap-metal-sculptures-john-lopez-14 welded-scrap-metal-sculptures-john-lopez-13 welded-scrap-metal-sculptures-john-lopez-11 welded-scrap-metal-sculptures-john-lopez-10 welded-scrap-metal-sculptures-john-lopez-8 welded-scrap-metal-sculptures-john-lopez-9 welded-scrap-metal-sculptures-john-lopez-7
